We have all read some of the literary classics, but very few have read all the classics. However, we do have our favourites; and mine would be “The Count of Monte Cristo.” Recommended by my dear friend Justin Bogdanovitch, a wealth of knowledge when it comes to novels, it does not fail to deliver. Completed in 1844 by Alexandre Dumas, it is an adventure story primarily concerned with themes of hope, justice, vengeance, mercy and forgiveness. The eloquent writing style in this page-turner of a novel should not go unread.
“Life is a storm, my young friend. You will bask in the sunlight one moment, be shattered on the rocks the next. What makes you a man is what you do when that storm comes.”
