Globetrotting with Kara McSwain, our “Where In The World” Correspondent
Kara McSwain travelled to Tuscany recently and took in the sites of Florence, one of Italy’s favorite cities for tourism. Just a few blocks northwest of the famous Duomo, Santa Maria del Fiore, Kara stumbled upon San Lorenzo Mercato Centrale. Originally the main shopping center of Florence for fresh foods, this piazza became less important with the advent of automobiles. A renewed interest in fresh local foods keeps this marketplace busy. One of Florence’s best-known delicatessens is Perini, a vibrant spot to taste samples and stock up on picnic items. As this image reveals, the Italian’s certainly know how to display in the most mouth-watering manner. Kara could not resist – who could?
