Several years ago, I was fortunate to have visited the island of Bali. Inhabited by some of the loveliest people on this earth, the serenity, beauty and peaceful lifestyle drew me into the good energy of everyone that I had the opportunity to meet. Our guide was clear to point out the spiritualness of the residents and how it relates to daily life within the villages and communities across the island. The topography is spectacular with its terraced mountains covered with lush green rice paddies. One village in particular, Ubud, is a community of artists and resorts where one can take in the sights of the Sayan Gorge where the terraced paddies appear to be oversized steps leading up each side of the ravine. Hanging precariously over the edge of the gorge, we stopped for lunch at Kupu Kupu Barong, a hotel and wonderful restaurant, that serves as a “lookout” for one of the most spectacular sites that Bail has to offer.
